ГМО монстр Bayer – Monsanto проиграл первый суд о канцерогенном гербициде раундап

Немецкая компания Bayer AG проиграла первый этап судебного разбирательства в США по делу о гербициде Roundup.

Средство по борьбе с сорняками было разработано американской компанией Monsanto, которая в прошлом году перешла под контроль Bayer. Как пишет The Wall Street Journal, присяжные постановили, что истец Эдвин Хардеман заболел раком в результате использования Roundup.

На первом этапе суда рассматривались исключительно свидетельства о вреде Roundup и его действующего вещества – глифосата. На втором этапе будет рассматриваться вопрос о привлечении Monsanto к ответственности. По мнению экспертов, это может привести к существенным потерям для Monsanto и Bayer: выплаты пострадавшим могут превысить 5 миллиардов долларов. Своей очереди ожидают около 11,2 тысячи исков по Roundup, только в этом году запланировано шесть слушаний. Акции Bayer уже упали на 10 процентов при открытии торгов во Франкфурте, передает "Интерфакс".

В августе прошлого года суд постановил выплатить более 289 миллионов долларов школьному садовнику Диуэйну Джонсону, который заболел раком после работы с гербицидом. Позже сумма была снижена до 78 миллионов.
